The Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (or HKIAC) is an institution based in Hong Kong, providing one-stop shop alternative dispute resolution services from administered and ad hoc arbitration to mediation, adjudication and domain name dispute resolution. Founded in 1985, HKIAC has grown from a regional institution into one of the most prestigious and world-renowned arbitral institutions today. Known for its innovations, internationalism and a world-class Secretariat, the Queen Mary University of London International Arbitration Survey has ranked HKIAC in 2015 as the most preferred institution outside Europe and the most improved institution in the world. ==History==
The HKIAC was established in 1985 to assist disputing parties to solve their disputes by arbitration and by other means of dispute resolution. It was established by a group of businesses and professionals in Hong Kong to be the focus for Asia of dispute resolution. It has been funded by the business community, and by the Hong Kong Government. The centre is a non-profit making company limited by guarantee. It operates under a Council composed of businesses and professionals of several nationalities. Administration of arbitration is conducted by the Council through the Centre's Secretary-General, who is its chief executive and registrar.
